BS3621 mortice upgrade on Victorian terrace in Moseley B13
The problem
Customer in Moseley had been refused contents insurance renewal because the original Victorian 3-lever mortice deadlock on the front door did not meet the insurer's BS3621 requirement. They needed a compliant replacement without damaging the period oak door.
What we did
Patterned the new 5-lever BS3621 Chubb mortice deadlock to match the existing chase, minimising fresh chiselling. Preserved the original period brass escutcheon and handle. Supplied a certified installation note the customer could send to their insurer.
Outcome
Insurance-compliant upgrade fitted in 75 minutes. Three cut keys handed over. Customer's insurer accepted the install note the next working day. Fixed price £165 including the lock and labour.
